Urgent care offers immediate medical service for a wide range of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. There are urgent care facilities located across the state, open outside of typical working hours.
What services does urgent care offer?
If there is a true emergency or major health problem, you should dial 9-1-1 and go to the emergency room.
Urgent Care facilities offer outpatient care and do not perform surgery or provide continuing medical care. Urgent care should not replace your primary care physician, but is a convenient option in case non-life-threatening injury or illness occurs outside of regular office hours and/or you need immediate assistance.
How much will it cost to go to urgent care?
Most health plans include Urgent Care facilities in-network and copays will usually be much lower than a visit to the emergency room.
If you do not have health insurance, urgent care pricing will depend on the location and type of visit. Out of pocket expenses for urgent care are much cheaper than the emergency room.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Most urgent care facilities do not require an appointment.
