NC 211 Speaks at AARP Press Conference

June 12, 2024. Today, United Way of North Carolina (UWNC) President & CEO, Brittany Pruitt Fletcher, promoted the benefits of NC 211 while being live on the Secretary of State’s Facebook page during a press conference at the AARP Summer Scam Jam, hosted by the NC Senior Consumer Fraud Task Force.

Partnering with AARP at this convening, UWNC’s NC 211 information resource service was deemed as the go-to number to call when North Carolinians don’t know where to turn to for help – in this case – fraudulent activity.

In recognition of World Elder Abuse Day on June 15, the Task Force held the press conference to educate people on the signs of scams and to report the fraudulent activity they witness or fall victim to.

In addition to the event held today, the Task Force released a 23 minute video to teach folks how to spot and report suspicious scamming activity.
