NC 211 Leader Throws First Pitch at Minor League Baseball Game

June 28, 2024. Last night, employees of United Way of North Carolina (UWNC) attended a minor league baseball game sponsored by AARP North Carolina (AARP NC). The game was held at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC, home of the Carolina Mudcats.

David Mercado, Senior Director of Operations for UWNC’s NC 211, was invited by AARP NC to throw the ceremonial first pitch to Muddy the Mudcat. David has a former career in baseball, playing for the Charlotte Knights and the New York Mets.

UWNC staff had a blast spending time outside of the office watching the Carolina Mudcats vs Lynchburg Hillcats.

The theme of the game was “Strike Out Fraud” in light of AARP’s services to protect citizens from online scams and fraudulent activity.
