Shelters:

Note for shelter residents
Bring ID, medications, items like glasses or diapers, clothing for 3-7 days, pillows, toiletries, chargers for cell phones, and books, games, or cards. Bring sheets, cots, and air mattresses if available. Alcohol, illegal substances, and weapons are not permitted.
If you plan to bring a pet to the shelter, please ensure you have the following: All pets MUST be crated All pets MUST have a collar/leash with proper tags (rabies vaccination required by NC law) Food and water bowls Food/treats Cleaning items (litter, bags, etc.)
There are nurses in most shelters that will be able to help people in the shelter with basic medical needs.
For families concerned about finding shelter for people with autism who may need calming rooms, call the Red Cross disability advisor at 720-618-3513. For people with more advanced medical needs who are unable to be in a regular shelter – who need to be in a medical shelter – call their local Emergency Management Office.

YMCA – 10/2/24
The Reuter YMCA in South Asheville (3 Town Square Blvd, Asheville, NC 28803) is open to the public for hot showers, Wifi, charging stations, and playground. There is no drinkable water. Open from 10AM to 5PM.
The Asheville Y downtown (30 Woodfin St, Asheville, NC 28801) has Wifi outside.
The Ferguson Y in West Asheville (31 Westridge Market Pl, Candler, NC 28715) has Wifi outside.
The Corpening Y in McDowell (348 Grace Corpening Dr, Marion, NC 28752) has showers, Wifi, and charging stations.
Water Distribution from 12-4 (times may vary). Bring your own containers. 10/2/24
Pack Square Park, 80 Court Plaza, Asheville 28801(Distribution site is walk-up only with assistance available for those who cannot carry water back to their cars)

Bring your own containers and they will fill up all of them with potable water from a huge water tanker truck. Some sites will also give out boxed water and MREs. Feel free to pick up for other people, as well.

Water for Toilet Flushing
The JCC pool is giving water to folks (bring containers) for flushing on Wednesday (Oct 2), Thursday (Oct 3) and Friday (Oct 4), 10 AM – 12 PM.
