How can I file taxes for free? 

There are several tools to help you file taxes for free: 

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
IRS trained and certified volunteers provide free income and tax assistance to families with a household income of $60,000 or less. CLICK HERE to find a VITA site near you.
IRS Free File
IRS Free File is a program that connects lower income taxpayers to free tax preparation services provided by private companies.
MyFreeTaxes
United Way partners with H&R Block to offer free federal and state tax preparation for households with a simple return. CLICK HERE to learn more.
GetYourRefund
GetYourRefund partners with VITA sites to offer online tax preparation assistance for those earning $66,000 or less per year. (also available in Spanish)
Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE)
Free tax help for those age 60 or older. Also offers information about pensions and retirement-related issues. CLICK HERE to learn more.
AARP Tax Aides
In-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone, free of charge, with a focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income. CLICK HERE to learn more.
