Update: On August 26th, The Supreme Court voted to allow evictions to continue across the country. They blocked the CDC’s eviction moratorium, stating that the CDC does not have the legal authority to impose a ban on evictions.
August 5, 2021. On August 3rd, the CDC issued a new order stopping evictions in counties with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission. The eviction moratorium allows additional time for relief to reach renters and to further increase vaccination rates. To find out which counties are considered eligible under the new eviction moratorium, visit the CDC COVID data tracker at https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view. NOTE: If COVID transmission rates improve in a county for 14 consecutive days, tenants will no longer be protected by the moratorium. Similarly, if transmission rates increase in an area not currently covered, tenants will become protected by the moratorium.
