Winter Holiday Assistance

December is filled with exciting Holidays that are spent gathering with family and friends. In 2021, there are various local resources across the state offering help with food and gifts this Holiday season.

How can I celebrate the Holidays safely in 2021?

The NC Department of Health and Human Services encourages everyone ages 5 and older to get vaccinated and consider avoiding large social gatherings. Individuals who are not vaccinated should wear a mask and maintain physical distance from others, especially when indoors. How can I get help with Holiday meals or gifts?

To find Holiday assistance near you, search the word “Holiday” in the search bar on our home page, dial 2-1-1 to speak to a Call Specialist, or click here for a list of 2021 resources.

This year, as in previous years, there are community organizations that are providing meals or gifts. Keep in mind that organizations all have different distribution processes and hours of operation, so it is recommended that you call ahead of time to confirm details.

How can I help others in my community during the Holiday season?

If you are able, there are many organizations that are looking for donations or volunteers during this time. Search “volunteer” or “donations” in the search bar on our home page or read our eLibrary post on volunteering. You can also follow NC 211 on Twitter and Facebook, as opportunities may be posted throughout the month.
